HARDWARE
-
Linebackers and ProxBoxes work together to provide instant and actionable insights line-by-line and pole-to-pole. IBEW certified technicians perform installation and maintenance via purpose-built drone.
-
Linebackers are installed between each pole set for distribution (approximately 175 feet) and every 900 feet for transmission.
-
ProxBox receivers have a range of up to four miles.

TAGGING THE LINES
POWERLINE LINEBACKERS
Tags are wireless smart sensors with extremely low power consumption that use movement and a suite of validating factors to provide critical insight into line-level issues that may or may not be outwardly visible to operators.
Transmit over two miles
Weigh less than three pounds
Installation is by drone, and can be achieved without de-powering lines.
Runs on a battery with a ten-year lifespan.
RESILIENT & REDUNDANT
Close proximity of Linebackers allows for maximum data granularity.
If a Powerline Linebacker or battery fails – or is on the verge of failing – an alert is sent to the system operator who can easily perform maintenance with a purpose-built drone.
If one Linebacker is compromised you still have data from tags on adjacent lines in the same pole-to-pole segment.
DATA COLLECTION & DISTRIBUTION
PROXBOX
Proxboxes monitor linebacker transmissions and communicate over satellite or cellular networks to Recon’s cloud servers.
FCC approved antennas have a four mile range
Solar and battery power enable function even during power outages.
If a solar panel is compromised, or the sun does not shine, the platform can continue to operate for 7 days on battery power.

RESILIENT & REDUNDANT
If the nearest ProxBox is unavailable or does not respond, the linebacker can adapt to send information along to the next ProxBox.
